This award is designed to give anyone the basic skills treat an unconscious casualty of any age, who has stopped breathing
Who should attend?
Anyone.
What you will learn
Delegates gaining this qualification will have a thorough understanding of practical lifesaving skills, focussing on how to treat an unconscious casualty, adult, junior or infant, who has stopped breathing.
Course content
Section 1 –

Awareness of own safety

Turning a casualty onto their back

Checking responsiveness

Sequence and application of CPR for infant, child, adult, and drowned casualties

Managing regurgitation

Recovery position

Use of a pocket mask

Diagnosis and treatment of choking:
Section 2 –
Optional first aid:

Diagnosis and treatment of bleeding

Diagnosis and treatment of shock
Course Duration
4 Hours
Assessment and certification
Delegates are continually assessed and receive feedback on progress throughout the course. Final assessment consists of Practical CPR Skills, Six questions on CPR and Practical First Aid Skills.
Upon successful completion candidates are awarded the RLSS Life Support 3 Award which is valid for 2yrs.
